"We should sign up for a boxing class!" An idea my best friend came up with one summer day. An idea in which I agreed to thinking she wasn't actually serious. However, trying new things was our new life motto and a couple weeks later we were walking in to our first beginners boxing class.
When you walk into Savage Fitness, you'll be greeted by a loud voice with a Mexican accent shouting something like "Hola Chicas!". Hector is always amped and ready to whip you into shape. The welcoming atmosphere was exactly what I needed to calm my nerves and get me excited for this new activity.
I captured this picture in the hallway at Savage. BE BOLD hanging on the wall down the hallway leading to the stairs. At the bottom of the steps; a whole new world. A large dark room with LED lights around the floor, ceiling and the giant mirrors that run along the north wall. Aqua bags and heavy bags hanging from the ceiling, music blaring and Hector shouting "Let's go, let's go, let's go!"
Fast forward one hour and a bucket of sweat later, I was hooked. If you want to feel strong, empowered, and just pure badass take up boxing as a new hobby. I felt all of those things driving home from that first class and I continue to feel them every single time I go.
Try something new. Something way out of your comfort zone. Be scared and nervous but do it anyways. Even if we would have never gone back again, we were able to say we tried it. But we did go back, we found a new workout that we loved doing and made new friends that loved the same thing! All because we were willing to try something new.
With every relationship in your life, you will either grow together, or you will grow apart. Find the people that help you grow and be a person willing to grow! If she wasn't willing to push me, we would've never gone. If I wasn't willing to step out of my comfort zone, we would've never gone. Find your people and grow with them.
Out of all the lessons from this one life experience, the most important one is to BE BOLD.
and of course,
Be Brave -B
